When we take all of this in, we see that you and I are bought out of the slave market of sin. Jesus actually paid the price on the cross for you and I to be free. Paul writes again in 1st Corinthians 6:20 that we were bought with a price. Therefore giving us two witnesses from the word of God that the price for redemption is paid in full.
Most of us have been taught this many times in Sunday School and in sermons from the pulpit. We live our Christian lives intellectually ascending to the idea that Jesus redeemed us from slavery to sin…But do we really believe and live like that is true.
Those who are redeemed from sin, also know that they are redeemed from the curse of the law. What exactly is Paul talking about when he mentions the curse of the law? He is referring back to Deuteronomy 28 when God declared that those who did not keep the commandments of the law were under a curse.
Sin has consequences. We can look all around us and see the result of sin in the world which we live in. All around us is death, poverty, destruction and sickness, yet Christians are redeemed from the consequences of sin through the blood of Jesus. We have been bought out of the curse and blessed with Abraham. Galatians 3:29 boldly states that if we belong to Jesus then are we the seed of Abraham and heirs of the covenant blessings found in the first part of Deuteronomy 28.
Declare today that you are blessed in every realm. Read the 28th chapter of Deuteronomy and confess that those blessing are yours; that they are overtaking you and your family at this very moment. The next time satan tries to bring a curse against you, remind him that you are the redeemed of the Lord and that you will receive none of his curses.
